Guestbook
The guestbook allows your visitors or customers to leave a message on your website. Although guestbooks are not as popular today as they were in the 1990s, it is still a feature we love to offer to our users.
You will receive an email notification when someone adds a new message to your guestbook. For safety reasons, the message will not be visible immediately on your website but only after you accept it.
The guestbook utilizes various spam protection mechanisms to help keep unwanted messages to a minimum.
- Navigate to Settings > More options > Guestbook
- Click Activate
- A new page Guestbook will automatically be added to CMS for each language of your website
If Guestbook is not displayed in the menu, first change the user experience level to Advanced, at Settings > More options > User experience level.
Accepting a guestbook message
- Scroll to the message you want to accept and click the Confirm button
Deleting a guestbook message
- Scroll to the message you want to delete and click the Delete button
Editing the guestbook page
- Navigate to Management > CMS
- Select the guestbook page in the desired language
- You can now add an introduction text or footer text on your guestbook page
Do not remove the [WEBSHOP_GUESTBOOK] keyword, otherwise the guestbook entries will no longer be visible.
If desired, you can add the guestbook to another page of your webshop.
- Navigate to Management > CMS
- Select the desired page
- Enter the keyword [WEBSHOP_GUESTBOOK] (capital letters!) at the place where the guestbook should be displayed
Deleting the guestbook
- Navigate to Settings > Modules > Guestbook
- Click Deactivate
- Navigate to Management > CMS
- Select the guestbook page in the desired language
- Click Delete
- Repeat for each language if your shop is multilingual
Frequently asked questions about the guestbook
- The guestbook is gone
- Create a new CMS page and add the [WEBSHOP_GUESTBOOK] keyword in the header.
- A message my visitor added is not shown
- New messages have to be accepted manually. You can do this at Settings > More options > Guestbook. Click the confirm button if you want to accept a message.
